Light at the End of the Tunnel

If this looks like a lot of script pages, it’s because it is.  This is basically the length of a script for a typical feature film … and we’re not done yet! What you see here is a printout of the latest versions of the scripts for episodes 1, 2, and 3 of the 4-part series. Each script has been written and rewritten multiple times. Our passion for telling this story in the best way possible drives us to constantly reappraise our work, sometimes going back to “square one” and starting over.

The script team (Mike, Chris, and Lee) had a meeting on March 20 in which we agreed to revise a small part of episode 1, a larger part of episode 2, a major segment of episode 3 — and to reshuffle some of our planning for episode 4.

For people who don’t know how all of this works, we should explain that when each episode gets fully scripted, the editors and graphics creators painstakingly weave together the visuals (mostly from videotaped interviews recorded over the last twenty-fives years, up to the present!) and align it all with a professional narration and a “placeholder” version of our musical score. And while that’s happening, work continues on the next script, and so on.

So here’s the good news: the fact there are complete scripts of the first three episodes (even if there are changes to be made) means there are also complete visual versions of episodes 1 and 2 that look and sound like the end result we all want.

And once work is underway on the script for episode 4, Mike Edwards and his team will be in the editing suite putting together the complex audiovisual tapestry that you will see as episode 3.

By then a script for episode 4 will be finished, so the visual cut can be made of that, and voila! We’ll have all of a four-part series that a streaming service will jump at the chance to add to their worldwide offerings.

All of which is to say:
we’re getting close, friends… we’re getting very, very close…!

Typically in film and television production, the musical score is (nearly) the last ingredient to go into the mix. So it’s a sign of our confidence that the process is “wrapping up” that during the first two weeks of March 2025 we recorded the symphonic and vocal performances called for by the beautiful compositions of Jim Papoulis. And we’re all still agog at having Joshua Bellarguably the most famous violinist in the world! — playing part of this score.

What a collection of talent, what a bunch of great minds under one roof!

Meanwhile, we are having to keep so many secrets under our collective hat it sometimes feels like we’re about to burst. We want to tell you who the narrator is going to be, what’s going to happen in episode 4, what’s new with sponsorship and fundraising, and so much more… But it would be wrong to spread rumors and hold our false hopes when we’re very close to having solid facts we can formally announce!

All we can say right now is … stay tuned.
