On September 11, 2025, the City of New Albany, Ohio hosted a once-in-a-lifetime event related to our film, an event in which they promised audience members would “hear firsthand how a single moment of bravery became a beacon of hope for tens of thousands of descendants walking the earth today.”
An eloquent description, surpassed only by this outstanding video summarizing the event:
The panel featured:
- Our film’s director, Mike Edwards
- Johanna Mücke, the remarkable young lady who, as a high school student in Germany, dedicated herself to preserving the memory of the events that took place in her hometown
- Matthew Rozell, the author and teacher who brought this hidden history to light
- Dr. Micha Tomkiewicz, who has blessed the world with a life of study, teaching, and advocacy thanks to his being rescued from the train; and
- Elizabeth Connelly, the daughter of tank commander “Red” Walsh, who was instrumental in the liberation and in the “rediscovery” of this amazing story.
Now, thanks to these excellent videos produced by New Albany, all of us who were not among the 400 packing that theatre can see and hear this panel! And those who were there can experience it again.
